Special Enforcement Team Division
   
 
 
The Special Enforcement Team is a team of 14 deputies trained to perform high-risk operations that fall outside of the abilities of regular patrol officers, including serving high-risk arrest warrants, barricaded suspects, hostage rescue, counter-terrorism, and engaging heavily-armed criminals.
 
The Special Enforcement Team is equipped with specialized firearms including assault rifles, submachine guns, shotguns, carbines, riot control agents, stun grenades, and high-powered rifles for snipers. They have specialized equipment including heavy body armor, entry tools, advanced night vision optics, and motion detectors for covertly determining the positions of hostages or hostage takers inside of an enclosed structure.
 
The Special Enforcement Team trains monthly on a wide variety of tactics and situations to be prepared for any situation. The team also works with other agencies SWAT teams and with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations tactical team when needed.
 
The Special Enforcement Team has won three first place trophies in tactical competitions since it’s formulation in 1992.
