The Office Staff provides a valuable service to the Sheriff’s Office by performing tasks to better serve the citizens of Surry County. Our office staff consists of an office manager and seven office personnel. Some of the responsibilities of the office staff are as follows:
  • Answering and routing Sheriff, Detective, Narcotics, Patrol, and Detention business telephone calls.
  • Entering and removing civil and criminal papers into our Records Management System.
  • Entering and updating all Domestic Violence Orders.
  • Entering and monitoring all Sex Offender Registry’s and Concealed handgun permits.
  • Processing background checks and pistol purchase permits.
  • Entering all stolen property, missing persons, and felony warrant information into DCI/NCIC.
  • Maintain all personnel records and training certifications required by Sheriffs’ Training and Standards.
  • Assisting the public with any other problem that might arise.
